Why does Australian govt allow H4 Visa holders to work unlike the US Govt does??????
Doesn't AU government know that H4 visa holders don't necessarily have the same skills as the H1 holders do? May be in AU, there is no provision to change from H4 to H1. In the US, you can always change from H4 to H1, if you want to work. In the US, every visa is different. You just need to get the right visa according to your needs.
I hope this helps people who don't know that H4 to H1 is possible.

Guys many have missed an important part of the bulletin. The Family based section , where F2A has advanced to July 2008 and also the below quoted excerpt from Dos in the Visa bulletin.
What this means is that there are a lot more of the family based visas which may not be used before the FY end. These visas will be included in the next years EB visas(for all EB's including Eb3). For 2010 we got about 9-10K excess. For FY 2011 that number will be significant. Also look at the murthy article on the FB visa subject.

It's slow poison.. Great deception. You can't get it and You can't let it go. After waiting so long (7+ years in GC road) I got nirvana. One early morning I think over back and relies what the hell I did with my life and career for this stupid card. So I put my energy in study. Hoping to complete MBA by summer and move forward. Waited so long so i don't have any more patience or emotion left. I have to move on with life.. :p
Have a cup of coffe, it is sprint break time, I am taking my daughter out....also I am going to meet some friends over this weekend.

$20 (2% of $1000 monthly bill) * 2k ( 10% of 20k IV members) = 40K per month
I guess 10% people with $1000 monthly credit card bill is not too optimistic.. is it?

Well, I hope mine gets resolved sooner than 6-8 months! My EAD is already expired and I could not apply since there was nothing in the application where I could show my status which is PR.
TravInd, you are right about people not knowing the priority dates and not aware the GC was a mistake. In fact, I still don't know for sure if mine was a mistake. I will know only when I find it out through the lawyer. My previous lawyer who worked on my GC case said congratulations and everything was fine. I am eager to find out if it was a mistake on my own.

Many of us who visit IV forums everyday know that snethil1 is an idiot. I would highly recommend more people to add him to your ignore list, just as I did. I read his post because you quoted him in your post. Otherwise his posts do not even show up on my screen. He and his posts are inconsequential if you add him to your ignore list.

How you can impress Senate or house? But anti immigrants gave all the layoff numbers, h1b numbers used and details of abuses happened for past few years. It is not just money power will win. With facts and numbers if you have money power then you can win. That is reason for past 3 years H1b numbers or GC numbers were not increased inspite of heavy lobbying.

Can someone confirm if you can maintain accounts in the US after you leave. That sounds very dumb. I want US to keep my money and they don't want it?
I understand that after Patriot Act you can't open accounts in US without SSN but I think you should be able to keep your account because that SSN is assigned to you forever.
Withdrawing funds from 401K before retirement is not a good idea. It is best to rollover the funds into an IRA at your bank.
By the way, after the Patriot act is passed, you can not maintain financial accounts in this country after you leave if you are on H-1B. Uncle Sam is afraid you will be financing Terrorists. Another sucker punch. Take it like a (wo)man. :D :D

Commercial airlines fly between 25,000 ft and 40,000 ft. Airlines generally take risks for profits. I know it. Some airlines like United are ultra sensitive to turbulence. I got approval email too. It cant be sheer luck that so many people are getting the approvals when it was taking 3 months as per their published processing times. Looks to me they just want to give 1 yr EAD to as many as possible. Good way to make money in recession year.
It was general observation that Paper Based EAD is getting approved very fast. We have quickest approval in only 18 days (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?p=250677#post250677). And this was reported a month ago (on 05/23/2008).
So I think it is their speed - it has nothing to do with intention to give 1 year EAD. On the avarage, people are getting EAD in 25 days.
Myself went ahead with e-filing (this takes 50 days). My FP is scheduled after 5 weeks of notice date (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18737). For E-filing, they have different process,which has not changed in last two months.
