I think Both Sen.Obama and Sen.McCain are interested in legal Immigration. Mitt Romney was a big Advocate of legal Immigration. But of course, these are not the priority Items for both the candidates and also have to reassure the citizens that they will create new Jobs. Both of their plans will not affect Outsourcing
Sen. Obama Proposes to end the tax breaks for companies who outsource their work to other countries. This will not have any Significant effect on Outsourcing, as companies save much more by outsourcing , than tax breaks.
Sen. McCain already said that the lost jobs are lost, he will invest in re-training the workforce and find new areas of employment which cannot be outsourced.
I dont expect this Question to be heard in the forthcoming debates , as this Question was asked since the interview was conducted in Columbia Univ( University who supports EB Immigration)
Seriously...both r of no use as far as legal immigration is concerned

So your question is regarding the how u become active volunteer or the way IV operates in dealing with the legislation events? I was answering the former.
About the funds .. you know the answer and logiclife videos tells exactly the same. But you said I know nothing about the funds. What exactly you are looking for. Money spend on each event? i think they started doing it. Recently pappu mentioned they need 41k for the rally.. I think we are improving on that front ..

But I kept my plans to attend as I booked my tickets (40 days in advance). I talked at the lawmakers's offices on two days non-stop for 20 minutes, occasionally flashing my handkerchief.

My I-140 was filed on July 6 and arrives at USCIS on July 9.
The check was cashed on July 12 and I was able to get the receipt number. BUT BY NOW I HAVE NOT RECEIVE THE RECEIPT. It seems many people are in the same boat. What we can do about it?
Anybody knows how many days it would take between they cash the check and mail out the receipt? What address do they use?
Did u get the receipt number on the back of the cheque or did u call USCIS and get it ???

I have been laid off yesterday. My employment ends Dec.
My 180 days expire Jan. My company said they will not revoke the I-140.
So can anyone explain the steps that needs to be taken by company B after they transfer my h1, for time period Dec thru Jan.
Can I use ac21 afterwards? and
Can myself or my wife work on the EAD that will come to our home address?.
What else needs to be done by company B.
Will we just get our green card in email.
If a query comes should I prove that I'm employed with the former company or is it to sufficient to show employment with similar position alone?
In short if the former company does not revoke I-140 and I take care of the status thru H1b transfer for the 1 month to hit 180 days, will I need to reapply for the GC?
Please advice to what you think is right based on your best knowledge.
You should be OK as long as you don't get a query. If the query is for the I-140, just send them the information they ask for without explaining too much. If the RFE is for the I-485, hopefully, you'd be able to show that you worked 180 days for your sponsoring company. You may want to consult an immigration attorney on this one.
Disclaimer: My opinion is the result of my immigration experience and free consultations with immigration attorneys as provided through legalserviceplans.info; however, it does not constitute legal advice.

I think our argument is getting a bit too emotional and thought of letting it go but wanted to respond to a few points mentioned by you:
I was Dem leaning too, and I liked Hillary. But Obama has in no way been running the honorable campaign. He is using others to do his dirty job, if you think otherwise, you too have been sold on the propaganda of the left.
yesterday i was reading a commentary by Karl Rove, even he said that McCain's ads went too far. I think that says enough (BTW Karl Rove is master republican strategist whose tactics are famously credited for Bush's second term win - him commenting negatively on a republican candidate and saying that ads are going too far - it wont happen everyday unless they really went toooooo far). I havnt yet seen any sleaze tactics from dem side (yet..atleast).
when obama made a sexist remark, what did the press do? Nothing. I dont know which comment you are talking about. In presidential election time journos wait for a little gaffe and make it out of proportion - even so I dont remember any offending "sexist" comment yet. If you are referring to "lipstick on pig" comment - its laughable to see republican pundits trying to imply that is referring to Palin - he was talking about the new found "change" message and how their new campaing wont change their old policies. Incidentally McCain seems to have made the exact same comment on Hillary herself during primary season. Yeah the same press was sleeping then.
Let us see what happens if his opposition makes a even a hint of racist remark. I am sure then that the republican campaign will be pounded by every media outlet in the country.
Dont even mention about race. We all know that Obama's race is to his disadvantage - just ask elder white voters from south about the prospect of voting to a black candidate named barack obama - whether they say it explicitly or not we all know in our hearts that race does play a role in voting and it is to his disadvantage (I was listening to an NPR public forum where some people insist that Obama is muslim and that is their main concern - this despite of repeated clarifications from him saying that he is a christian and despite of a major controversy surrounding his christian pastor; I wonder if same suspicions would have persisted if its a white candidate named John Smith). The notion created by some pundits that Obama is trying to exploit his race towards his advantage is idiotic in my opinion. Being a racial minority myself with a strange name and an exotic religion (struggling to get a greencard :)) I know what it would have been taken for Obama to came to this stage. I cringe when people suggest that his success is "because" of his race - it is actually in spite of his race and in spite of his poor background (he came from even poorer background than most of members here I guess, he and his mother lived on food stamps for some time). Yes media might have gone overboard about his candidature at some point during primaries - but that honeymoon is long over and in fact these days McCain/Palin are getting a free ticket.
Again, not to say I like republican ideology, I am very left leaning in my thoughts and actions. However at this time, I see that majority of the left is leaning towards Obama just for the sake of leaning towards left, and not on the merits of candidacy.
As I mentioned earlier I am a non-voter, so dont have much stake in this election (considering my GC stage I wont be voting to either of these candidate's second term too). I was just referring to the two candidates and who is running a better campaign. As an independent observer (though slightly dem leaning as you:)) of presidential politics for last several years - I think in the last two elections - trivial/non-sensical matters overshadowed real issues and look what state the country is in. The reason for those two elections getting into trivial issues is not coincidental or is it a fluke. The propaganda artists dominate and try to "manipulate" people opinion. This time I thought it would be different and seemed different for sometime but last couple weeks the same tactics came back and they are firmly followed by McCain without even regretting. That is sad.
If I have had a vote, I would have thought about issues like economy, war, immigration, health care, et al and decided whom to vote. Republicans know that if people think seriously about these issues they would lose - that is why they are concentrating on personalities and slowly and systematically making Obama the villain who support sex education to kindergarteners, who raised gas prices even though they are ruling for last eight years and their candidate in the senate for 30 years (whose experience they tout), etc. If personalities is the only criterion, I have to say that I like Obama more since I appreciate the way he rose out of poverty and got great education and despite of lure of earning money (whose pull is more for someone coming out of poor background) he choose to be a community organizer. McCain has a pretty good story himself but he is from a affluent family with political ambitions cultivated from beginning and was taken under wings by bigwigs from early his career - it is nothing wrong but I like a self-made man who can inspire youth and old alike.
On expereince, just having experience is of no use. A president is someone who leads and inspires the nation - he/she does need to have enough experience to allow people judge him - being a state senator and federal senator and being in the national limelight for last 5 years and being under intense media attention for last 18 months, Obama has enough experience to allow people make decision about him. What is the use of having hundred years experience without able to inspire handful of people - lets say Sen. Sessions with hundred years of experience (not exactly but close to) runs for president does he make a good candidate??? Dont you think that Obama has shown enough leadership and inspirational fire in the primaries to be eligible to where he is now.
Both candidates changed their positions and its fair game to discuss - its also good to discuss their stands on various issues (personally I would like to know their stand on immigration in general and EB in particular - but I am sure they both would avoid talking about that) - the thing is, last couple weeks from the time Palin came into picture - issues have taken backseat and republicans seems to be enjoining that. They seems to be following the same tactics that put them in power in last two elections (in '00 the pundits exhorting people to vote for someone with whom they can have a beer with; and then exploit voting and results in one particular state; and in '04 putting mini referundums on gay marriages while the country was in a war and then swift-boat the other candidate) and unfortunately it seems to be working again.

I called an hour ago. The lady said the phones are ringing like crazy for these bills. She was nice to take down the bill numbers, my name, and phone number. I asked her the tipping point when these things get noticed and if we are any close to the number of phone calls. The lady said, call volume is good and it will only help if your community makes more calls.

Here is a message from Ajoba regarding the San Jose rally....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I must say that this is a great great effort. Both, the flower campaign and the rally. Nothing like this has been done before by wanna-be immigrants. We are hardworking, law abiding, well educated people. But until now, the general opinion was that we are at the mercy of the American immigration system. I was especially so frustrated when some of my friends thought that there was nothing wrong in what the USCIS did. Their response was simply "what can we do? let's just re-apply when the dates become current again". Historically, Indians (at least, from my experience) have been hesitant to protest against the wrongdoings of their rulers. This is seen even today, when we fear to raise our voice when our bosses or managers at work exploit us, or our advisers/professors exploit us, or if the USCIS changes rules in the middle of the game. In India too, the general opinion is "Nothing is going to change, let's not get into trouble". This rally has shown that things are changing. We all should wake up, and fight for our rights! I could not attend the rally as I am based in Michigan, but I thank all of you who protested for me and my family. I will do my best to support this effort in whatever way I can.
Hi Guyz,
First off, kudos to all the friends who attended the rally. I really appreciate the efforts and thank all of them.
I just thought of starting this thread for people who did not attend. Please explain in one or two sentences why you did not attend. Whether it was a personal reason, whether u were scared, didn't care, forgot, didn't know! etc.
My reason:
I really wanted a green card, but because India is growing so fast, I really don't think I want it so badly anymore. So, I did not have the motivation to go ...
I am honestly curious. What changed in two months? You were desperate then, and you are not now?

FYI:
- I heard from my friends that their's approved within a month and they did regular paper filing.
- e-Filing needs ASC appointment for Bio stuff; Looks like, that delays atleast few weeks than paper filing.
- And, lot of us are waiting for 2 Yr EAD if EAD is not required ot apply before June 30th. That reduces the load too.

If that's the case, why DOS made it unavailable? It could have maintained same June 2007 bulletin for rest of the year right? - Never understand, how their brain works?
Because going back to 2007 bulletin is lot of work for them. Looking at PD of each application and seperating it from the lot. If they just made it U, its easy...send everything back.

My question is more regarding USCIS website for e-filing.
I already have an account to monitor my 485/EAD status status.
I was wondering if one needs to create a new account for e-filing

So based on what you mentioned below :
Persons who sent their apps, now if they become curent in Oct, they will process those applications. And all others appls will be returned by Oct/Nov 2007 ?
Seems like folks have to wait in dark for 3 months ? are u sure about this ? or is it hearsay ?
I have always been of the opinioin, that the most correct thing for the USCIS to do at this point is to not return the applications, but hold them until Oct. When the window technically re-opens, just swallow everything that is on hold - the window technically only needs to open for a few seconds for that to happen.
The other thing they should also do is accept all 485 applications till the end of July and process them likewise.
Giving everyone EAD/AP benefits does not hurt....they can then line up all the 500-700K people and issue the green cards as per visa number/PD/RD availability...

Guys,
We also need to make the public aware what we contribute to the society. Not only our jobs, but also how we contribute to ssn, work without unemployment benefits (when compared to citizens),how much taxes we pay, etcs tatus of h4 dependents without driving licence and with all these stress we also do our job with a smile isnt?WE DEFINITELY NEED TO OVERCOME THE PUBLIC OPINION THAT WE ARE JUST HERE TO TAKEAWAY JOBS.
Rather than mentioning it as our right,we need to make people aware of how we contribute and why we deserve a green card.;)
My 2 cents.
BTB,nice taking to u over phone WD.

Though i am not a big fan of Laloo, but i do admire the way he saved Indian Railways from brink of bankruptcy.
Read here: Lalu Prasad Yadav - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laloo_Prasad_Yadav)
Excerpt:
"Railways Minister
During his initial year as a railways minister, Yadav banned plastic cups to serve tea at railway stations and ordered that they be replaced by kulhads (earthen cups). He claimed that the measure would generate more employment in rural areas.[17] Later, he also said that he had plans to introduce buttermilk[18] and khādī[19]. In June 2004, he announced that he would get on the railway himself to inspect its problems and went on to board the Patna railway station at midnight. [20]
When Yadav took over, the Indian Railways was a loss-making organization. In the 4 years under his leadership, a cumulative total profit of Rs. 25,000 crore (US$ 5.2 billion dollars) has been reported. Ironically, under the previous government, the Rakesh Mohan Committee (headed by Rakesh Mohan, secretary, department of economic affairs) had termed The Railways a 'white elephant' and predicted that it would suffer a Rs 61,000 crore (US$15.4 billion dollars) loss possibly ending in bankruptcy by 2015. [21] The only solution seemed to be privatization.
Yadav with 2008 Indian railways budgetLalu Prasad Yadav, along with the IAS officer Sudhir Kumar[22], is credited with engineering the financial turnaround of Indian Railways, that was on the verge of bankruptcy before his appointment to the office. He left passenger fares untouched and found several other profitable sources of revenue for the Railways. He also improved on his first year's performance by stating a profit of 14,000 crores with decreased freight and unchanged passenger fares in 2006. Then, in the 2007 budget, he increased the profit level to 20,000 crores with the introduction of cushion seats in all unreserved compartments. In 2008, profits were 25000 crore (equals $ 6.25 billion @ $1~Rs.40)
Speech of Shri Lalu Prasad, introducing the Railway Budget 2008 on 26 February 2008
“ Speaker Sir, I present the Railway Budget for the year 2008-09 with a sense of deep pride and satisfaction. Each year we have progressively raised the bar based on our own successes. The cash surplus of the Railways rose steadily from Rs 9000 cr in 2005 to Rs 14000 cr in 2006 to Rs 20000 cr in 2007. The august House would be happy to know that in 2007-08, we will
create history once again by turning in a cash surplus before Dividend of Rs. 25000 cr. Our operating ratio has also improved to 76%. Indian Railways is a Government Department. However, we take pride in the fact that our achievement, on the benchmark of net surplus before Dividend, makes us better than most of the Fortune 500 companies in the world... [23]"
